Time and time again we hold on to things that we don’t need. It’s not always because we don’t have the strength to part with them, but because of the time that’s been invested. People can be the most difficult “thing” to part with. Knowing the right time to walk away and how to do it can literally drive you insane. You lose sleep because you’re constantly thinking about trying to fix it and how to make it better, yet you know it’s so wrong. You look deep within yourself and you know what you NEED to do, but it’s not what you want to do.
People can become a shadow in a sense. They follow you wherever you want to go and they appear and disappear with the weather.
It’s been storming a lot this year and the shadow has been in hiding. When the sun comes out, it’s almost as if it wasn’t fully there, like there were secrets being withheld. We need to experience sunshine and good weather once in a while, but sometimes you get stuck in the storm. You don’t ever see your shadow without the sun. When it gets dark, we need to find another way to see the light. The light may or may not be burnt out for good. That’s where you decide to keep yourself awake or to put yourself to sleep.
Masking any issue is a problem. Making excuses and staying with someone because of time is even worse. You’re not only hurting yourself, but also the other person involved. Time and time again we hold on to things that we don’t need. It’s time to let go once and for all and put the dark to sleep.
In conclusion, here are five ways to let go of things that aren’t good for you.
- Be Firm.
- Think about what you want to say and have it in order.
- Remember why you feel the way you do.
- Be Strong. Know that there will be hurtful things said, but stand your ground.
- Breathe. Know that everything will be OK and move forward.
